Born in North Vancouver, Matthew’s love for music and performing began at an early age. His foundation and appreciation for the performing arts was formed through his parents who are both professional musicians. Matthew began to study voice privately from his mother and worked his way through various music festivals earning high achievements in Music Theatre, Contemporary, Early Music, and Canadian Arts categories.
Matthew now lives in Victoria, BC and is a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts. His love for the stage and desire to enhance his performance skills led him to the college where he received training from some of Canada’s finest professionals.
Matthew’s training has inspired him to tackle a variety of unique and interesting characters. He recently sang the role of Fabrizio Naccarelli (The Light in the Piazza) with the Victoria Symphony. His previous show credits also include the roles of Fred/Petruchio (Kiss Me Kate), Polixenes (The Winter’s Tale), Beadle Bamford (Sweeney Todd), Pat Denning (42nd Street), The Phantom (The Phantom of the Opera), Captain Hook in J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, and sang as a boy soprano with the Amadeus Children’s Choir and the Vancouver Opera Children’s Chorus.
